Huey "Harrot" P. Newton

Hey! My name is Harrot. But today, you can call me Huey P. Newton!

I, along with my partner Bobby Seals, created the Black Panther Party for self Defense in Oakland, California! The Black Panther Party was formed to protect the black community from police brutality.

I was born in Monroe, California on February 17th, 1942 and passed on August 22nd, 1989.

Despite having a difficult childhood, in the 1960’s, I managed to find myself at Merritt College and later the University of San Francisco School of Law where I met Bobby Seale!

In 1966, Bobby Seale and I created the Black Panther Party for Self Defense! This organization took a militant approach to protecting the black community.

We then established our political goals known as the Ten-Point Program. This called for better housing, jobs, and education for African Americans.

In 1970, I took the Black Panther Party in a new direction to help my people. This included and not limited to, free lunches, clinics, and housing solutions.

Today, I am Huey P. Newton! And so are you!
