Kamala Mrs. Phloem Harris

Hey! My name is Mrs. Phloem. But today, you can call me Kamala Harris!

First off, I graduated from a Historically Black College/University (HBCU) named Howard University!

Secondly, you may know me as the first Black Woman to become Vice President of the United States of America!

I was born in Oakland, California on October 20th, 1964.

Being brought to Civil Rights protest as a toddler showed me that there is power in numbers and all things are possible with a good leader. At age 12, I organized a protest against a building owner who wouldn’t allow the neighborhood kids to play on the lawn!

After graduating from Howard University with a Bachelors in Political Science and Economics. I moved on to the University of California, Hastings College of Law, where I earned my J.D. (Juris Doctorate) in 1989.

I later passed the California State Bar Exam in 1990!

In 1998, I became the managing attorney for the Career Criminal Unit in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.

In 2000, I was appointed Chief of its Community and Neighborhood Division. During this time, I established the state’s first Bureau of Children’s Justice.

Showing my passion and competitive spirit as a woman in a male dominated career. In 2003, I defeated Terence Hallinan (My former boss) to become San Francisco’s District Attorney. In 2010, I defeated Steve Cooley and became the California Attorney General! I was the first woman period, to hold this position.

In 2016, I was elected to a California representative seat in the U.S. Senate!

In 2020, President Joe Biden announced, "I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked Kamala Harris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate!"

On December 14th, 2020, I officially became the First Black Woman to become the Vice President of the United States!

Today, I am Kamala Harris! And so are you!
