Colin "Broc" Kaepernick

Hi! My name is Broc! But today, you can call me Colin Kaepernick.
Largely known for my time as a Quarterback in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2016.
But my stake in history came when I refused to stand for the national anthem during a football game to protest racial injustices to people of color.
I was born on November 3rd, 1987 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
I played college football at the University of Nevada, Reno, where I set many school and college records.
I became the first quarterback in Division 1 FBS history to pass for more than 10,000 yards and run for over 4,000 yards.

My first game as a quarterback in college I threw for 384 yards and scored 4 touchdowns!
In 2016, I took a knee during the national anthem before a preseason football game and later told the press. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color… To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way."
In December 2017, I was on the cover of GQ and awarded “Citizen of the Year!”
In 2017, I received the Eason Monroe Courageous Advocate Award at the ACLU of Southern California’s annual Bill of Rights Dinner.

In 2017, I also received the Sports Illustrated Muhammad Ali Legacy Award! An award given to former athletes and sports figures who show sportsmanship, leadership, and philanthropy while changing the world!
Today I am Colin Broc Kaepernick. And so are you!
