Lebron "Turnip" James

Hey! My name is Turnip. But today, you can call me Lebron James!

You may know me as star NBA basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers and Founder of “I Promise School” for 3rd and 4th graders in Akron, Ohio.

I was born in Akron, Ohio on December 30th, 1984 and am now 36 years old. Pretty young to be on this list right!

Well, I started out as a poor kid from Akron, Ohio to become one of the most famous athletes of all time!

After 8th grade in 1999, I was recruited to play high school basketball at St. Vincent- St. Mary High School. After 4 years I totaled 2,657 points, 892 rebounds, and 523 assists. We won 3 National High School Championships in those 4 years.

In 2003, I was drafted into the NBA as the #1 pick to the Cleveland, Cavaliers. This 2003-2004 season, I became the first player to win the Rookie of the Year Award and the youngest player in NBA history to receive these honors.

In 2011-12, I won my first NBA Championship with the Miami heat!

I won 3 more championships after this. One more with the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Los Angeles Lakers.

In 2019, I became the first player to get a triple-double against all 30 NBA teams. This same year I became the AP Male Athlete of the Decade.

I was chosen for the All-Star team every one of my seasons in the NBA.

In 2003, I signed a contract with Nike for $90 million that could become $1 billion over my lifetime.

In 2004, along with my mother, established the LeBron James Family Foundation to help children and single-parent families in need.

On July 30th, 2018, my LeBron James Family Foundation opened the “I Promise School” for 3rd and 4th graders who are seen as academically behind in my hometown of Akron, Ohio!

I am a 4x NBA champion, 4× NBA Finals MVP, 4× NBA Most Valuable Player, 17× NBA All-Star, 3× NBA All-Star Game MVP, and 13× All-NBA First Team.

Today, I am LeBron James and so are you!
